Privacy - like eating and drinking - is one of life's basic requirements

Privacy Policy

Your privacy and confidentiality is of utmost importance to me. Any personal details sent via my website (ie. name, email address etc) will not be shared with any other parties. All records, whether in written or any other form, will be protected with the strictest of confidence.This confidentiality is extended to my Clinical Supervisor where minimal identifying information is shared only. I am obliged to report serious matters that may come to my attention in the course of counselling. Reportable categories include;

  • You pose a serious risk to the safety of either yourself or others.
  • There are grounds to suspect a child under the age of 16 years is at risk of significant harm.
  • The commission of a crime against a person.

Case records may be subpoenaed by the Court if you are involved in a legal matter.

Friending

I do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on any personal social networking site (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc). I believe that adding clients as friends or contacts on these sites can compromise your confidentiality and our respective privacy. It may also blur the boundaries of our therapeutic relationship. If you have questions about this, please bring them up when we meet and we can talk more about it.

Interacting

Please do not use Social Networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn to contact me. These sites are not secure, thus risking your privacy, and I may not read these messages in a timely fashion. If you would like to contact me, the best way to do so is by phone or email at connect@kerriebannister.com.au.

Use of Search Engines

It is not a part of my practice to search for clients on Google or Facebook or other search engines. My reasoning is that I believe casual viewing of clients’ online content is a breach of your privacy and not in the best interests of our therapeutic relationship.

Business Review Sites

You may find my counselling practice on sites such as Google, True Local or other places which list businesses. Some of these sites include forums in which users rate their providers and add reviews. Many of these sites comb search engines for business listings and automatically add listings regardless of whether the business has added itself to the site. If you should find my listing on any of these sites, please know that my listing is NOT a request for a testimonial, rating, or endorsement from you as my client.
